A Chartered Engineer with over thirty years experience in Project and Development Management Austen worked until recently for Laing O’Rourke as Development Manager on the redevelopment of the old 56 acre Vauxhall car plant in Luton. His responsibilities included the master planning of the scheme and the securing of planning permission. Prior to that as bid manager he successfully achieved preferred bidder status in the Leicester Hospitals NHS PFI with a construction value of £750million.
While working with Lend Lease he led the concept design of Trinity Quarter Leeds achieving planning permission and contributed significantly to the successfully CPO (Compulsory Purchase Order) of adjoining owners’ rights so securing the future of the project. He also worked in a senior project management roll on Bluewater delivering the £63million M&E element of the project.
Since leaving Lang O’Rourke Austen has set up his own business providing Project and Development Management to clients including MGPA and Oxford Properties.
